The new Vi5000 and Vi7000 digital consoles deliver the best of Vi sound. They incorporate new 96kHz audio processing options and increased channel count into the most popular mixing interface for live applications, with an even improved level of control and reliability.

Associated with its extremely compact control surface, its new local rack and its new active connection panel allow the simultaneous mixing of 128 inputs and 32 mono/stereo buses.

Its exceptional sound quality is ensured by an ultra-low-noise microphone preamp design, 40-bit floating 96 kHz digital audio processing integrating 8 independent Lexicon effects engines, the famous BSS DPR901II™ multiband equalizer and BSS graphic equalizers on each bus .

Users have fast and powerful configuration and automation tools, wireless microphone system controls, and flexible I/O expansion capability incorporating MADI, Dante™, EtherSound™, CobraNet™, etc...

The standard Vi Stage Rack offers 64 analog mic/line inputs with 48V phantom power and pre-converter 100Hz high pass filter and 32 analog line outputs. The mic preamp gain is adjusted from the control surface. It can be fitted with AES/EBU inputs and additional outputs per 8-channel section in the form of expansion cards in Dante, BLU-Link, Cobranet, Aviom, A-Net16 and Ethersound formats (see page 512). Up to 5 scene racks can be connected to create a real digital patch, where the operator can determine the sources that will be assigned to the 128 inputs of the console. The Vi5000 and Vi7000 consoles can also use reduced format stage racks such as the Compact Stagebox (32 or 48 inputs) or the Mini Stagebox MSB16R or MSB32R.

The new generation of the Local Rack which equips the Vi7000 and Vi5000 makes it possible to manage up to 384 inputs/outputs and integrates additional expansion slots to be able to simultaneously use 2 Stage Racks, 2 recording cards and a MADI interface for a RealTimeRack. Several mixing modes are available depending on the number of DSP cards installed:

• 128 channels/32 stereo buses at 48 kHz (with 5 DSP cards)

• 64 channels / 32 stereo buses or 72 channels / 24 stereo buses at 96 kHz (with 8 DSP cards)

Cat5e or Cat7 cables fitted with an Amphenol RJF connector provide a practical and reliable connection between the Stage Racks and the Local Rack over a maximum distance of 80 m. A fiber optic link allows it to be extended up to 1.5 kilometres.

The BSS DPR901II was a standard in analog multiband dynamic equalization, used worldwide for its powerful correction capabilities. Its unique function of triggering above or below the threshold of each of its bands allows the equalizer to act only on a strong or weak signal. The Vi7000 and Vi5000 bring the modeled version of this famous analog processing into the digital domain. 16 instances are available via the insert module.
