Special case for the safe transport of Lithium Ion batteries: B&W 6040 Li-Ion Carry & Store

As the batteries are highly flammable and have explosive properties even when intact, the special case had to pass extensive testing for dangerous goods packaging in order to be certified for transporting lithium-ion batteries, including lithium-ion polymer batteries, in accordance with UN 3480 regulation. The case is certified for transporting or storing two Li-Ion batteries with a maximum capacity of 750Wh per battery.

For the outdoor.type 6040 case, B&W International uses a suitable Cirrux fiberglass cushion as an insert. This special padding material is characterized by the fact that it is neither flammable nor conductive and serves as thermal insulation. The cushion filled with glass fibers is protected against short circuits and is absorbent. Even a battery acid leak has no negative consequences. Since Cirrux, as a cushion, is more elastic under pressure than granules, the material cannot dust or crumble.

About six million Germans already own an e-bike or a pedelec. The sector is booming. Dealers are therefore increasingly faced with the challenge of storing and transporting lithium-ion batteries as a power source for these bikes. For transport, they need a certified and safe solution, because lithium-ion batteries are always classified as dangerous goods, whether they are new and intact, used or even damaged. Safe storage is also important for owners of e-bikes and pedelecs, for example if they are not using their bike for a long period out of season and have removed the batteries.
