Hoya PRO ND500 82mm
The Hoya ProND Filter is for people who like to play with time: it reduces the light intensity without affecting the colors and allows you to increase the exposure time when shooting (eg: an ND500 filter multiplies the exposure time by 500).
The Hoya ProND range is primarily designed for still photography and HDSLR video. The Accu-ND technology of Hoya ProND filters provides a truly neutral color balance. No adding color cast to your photos. The Metallic Accu-ND coating allows for a one-time adjustment of your white balance and maintains the same color balance for all densities of the ProND range, even if you want to change filters due to variations in light or to give a creative effect or special, which is not possible for other ND filters.
ProND filters are made from optical glass manufactured by Hoya and coated on both sides with Accu-ND metallic technology. All Hoya ProND filters are mounted on a thin aluminum ring preventing vignetting on wide angle lenses.
Without a Pro ND filter, your photo would be totally white because the sensor will have received too much light. This filter is the solution for creating images with long exposure times in the middle of the day, an excellent technique for making any moving subject disappear in your photos
The use of Hoya's Pro ND (Neutral Density) filters is recommended in difficult light conditions, such as when the sun shines on the snow-capped mountains or on the beach.
Gray in appearance, ProND filters are often overlooked by photographers. However, they have several functions and offer the possibility of obtaining results that are not normally possible. ND filters reduce the amount of light and have no effect on color balance.
The 4 main functions of ND filters:
- Make slow speed shooting possible, especially with fast movies. Take moving subjects, such as waterfalls, clouds, cars, the sea, etc.
- Decrease depth of field by allowing the use of large apertures, which help separate subjects from their backgrounds.
- Decrease the ISO of a film at high speed (ISO 400) which allows it to be used outdoors in strong light.
- Allows video or cinema cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to capture certain subjects, such as snow, sand and other bright scenes that normally cause overex
